Define ownership
Clarify who wins the work, who prices it, who coordinates surveys and artwork, and who remains responsible through production and installation. Candidates can then understand the decisions they will own.
Describe the customer and project mix
The skills needed for repeat local work can differ from those needed for multi-site programmes or complex bespoke projects. Explain typical values, timescales, stakeholders and delivery risks.
Explore commercial judgement
Ask how candidates balance customer expectations, margin, specification changes and operational capacity. Strong examples show how they communicate difficult decisions as well as successful outcomes.
Connect sales with delivery
The best appointment is credible with customers and trusted internally. Include production and installation stakeholders in the process when their working relationship will be central to the role.
